A commemorative celebration was held. At that time, lighters were just starting to appear on the general market, but they were still overshadowed by matches, but pipes (holders) were selling well.

Also, a walking stick cooperative was established in Osaka between 1940-1941, and in Tokyo around 1942, with the aim of adhering to the official prices set by the government and the prices agreed upon by dealers.

In March, an order was finally issued banning men under the age of 3 from working in peacetime industries, forcing the company to suspend operations. The company began preparations to convert the aforementioned factory in Motomachi, Naniwa Ward, to the military industry and produce wooden parts for airplanes, but the factory and the Semba headquarters were completely burned down in the Great Osaka Air Raid in March of the following year, 45 (Showa 1945). The company was forced to start again from scratch.

Immediately after the end of the war, the company opened a store in Ushimaru-cho, Kita-ku, Osaka (north of JR Osaka Station). This was the year that the company began postwar operations. In March, the government ordered a currency conversion, and sales outlets wanted the old yen, while suppliers wanted the new yen, leading to a very difficult business environment. Katsuji would stuff his backpack with cash to buy lighters, travel by overnight train from Osaka to Tokyo to buy them, and then return by overnight train to Osaka, continuing this lifestyle and rebuilding the company.

1947 (22)
On December 12th, the company opened a new flagship store at 25 Kitakubojicho, Higashi-ku. Just two years after the war, the company was able to return to the merchant town of Senba. Gasoline, the fuel, was easier to obtain than before the war, and the use of lighters by the occupying forces became a trend, leading to sales of smoking accessories.
